Microsoft's OneNote has been available on iOS devices for a while now, but this is the first version that has been optimised for Apple tablets.

"Since the launch of OneNote for iPhone nearly a year ago, a recurring request from our customers has been for a version that can be used more easily on the iPad's larger screen," Microsoft's Michael C. Oldenburg said on the OneNote blog. "We're happy to announce that today's new release of OneNote for iOS devices includes a version that's tailored for the iPad."

The new version includes a number of iPad-friendly improvements, including a tabbed user interface, table rendering, improved Windows Live sign-in experience and a quick note creation option in the Unfiled Notes section.

OneNote is an information gathering tool that fulfills the roll of a virtual filing cabinet that can hold text, images, website URL’s, tables, PDF’s and pretty much anything that you can copy or print. For an explanation of what makes OneNote great, click here.

OneNote 1.3 allows you to store up to 500 notes for free. Meanwhile, an unlimited notes upgrade costs $4.99 for iPhone and $14.99 for iPad 1 and 2.

To download OneNote 1.3 for iOS, visit the iTunes Store. [Note: Your device must be running Apple iOS 4.3 or later.]

used to use Onenote all the time when my main handset was an iPhone, even though I had to create a US iTunes account. Then went to an SGS2 and tried out onenoter etc. I eventually gave up and just went with evernote.

If M$ cannot be bothered supporting this brown land and on all platforms commonly available, then be gone with them, there are other options.

PS I do have a M$ Technet subscription, so please don't be misled to believe I am anyone's fanboy.
