Tech deals: get a Blu-ray player with inbuilt set-top box for $79

Need a cheap Blu-ray player this Christmas? Bing Lee is selling a feature-packed budget unit for $79.

Back in 2006, the cheapest Blu-ray player on the market cost just south of $1000. These days, you'd be hard pressed finding a model above $400.

But even by today's prices, this latest deal from Bing Lee is pretty impressive. The retailer is selling Dgtec's Blu-ray player/HD set top box combo for $79, which is one of the cheapest prices for a Blu-ray player we've seen. The deal also includes free delivery if you pay via PayPal.

While we can't vouch for the Dgtec brand, features include 1080p DVD upscaling, a seven day electronic program guide (EPG), an Ethernet port compatible with BD Live 2.0 and MP3/WMA/JPEG playback support.

If you prefer to have the assurance of a well-known brand, Bing Lee is also selling the Saumsung BD-D5100 Blu-Ray Player for $99. While it lacks the Dgtec's set top box, it comes with added multimedia support, including DivX HD, MKV and WMV playback.
