If you're torn between an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 purchase, you might be interested to know it's possible to pickup the PS3 for less than an Xbox.
Big W is currently advertising the PlayStation 3 on its web site for $298 plus delivery, down from the new $349 price announced by Sony last week.
We also spotted the 160GB PlayStation 3 for $299 on the Harvey Norman site, but this has since disappeared from their site. Harvey Norman does list a "Best Price Guarantee" (with conditions) so they might be able to match Big W's price.
Over at JB Hi-Fi you'll pay $349 for the 160GB PlayStation, but this deal comes with two games (from a shortlist) and an HDMI cable. EB is charging $348. [Update: since we posted this story, EB is now advertising the 160G PlayStation on its web site for $298)]
An Xbox 360 bundle will set you back at least $400 in many shops. The exception is the Xbox 360 4GB Rugby World Cup 2011 bundle, which is advertised for $330 at Harvey Norman, and $348 at EB (but out of stock according to the web site).
If you're looking for a Blu-Ray player, now looks like as good an opportunity as any to get the PlayStation 3, unless you're prepared to wait for the Christmas offers.
