Photoshop maestros can do some incredible things to photos after they're taken, but the demo below is something we haven’t seen before.
A new camera is being promised that will capture photos in such a way that that all available light is recorded. By recording all the available light when taking a picture, "light field" cameras will supposedly allow the image to be adjusted dramatically after the photo is taken - refocusing the image, and according to the web site of Lytro (the company that says it's working on a consumer light field camera) even changing perspective or converting to 3D. Investor Ben Horowitz (general partner in an investment company reportedly investing in the technology) describes the concept on his web site as "like travelling backwards through time."
"You can take a picture then figure out what you really wanted then go back through time and take that picture," Horowitz's post reads. Take a look at the demonstration below and see for yourself. Lots more pictures here. Click around the photo to change the focus.
