Paypal has permanently restricted Wikileaks account, preventing any donations from being made to the not-for-profit media organisation at the centre of a 250,000-strong US government document leak.
In an official statement on Saturday morning, Paypal restricted all activities on Wikileaks account, citing "a violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity"
